Zoom is a tool for video conferences and webinars, not only for distant learning but also team meetings. The basic licence allows for 40-minute long calls for about 100 attendees. The broader licence has no limit on time, and also is able to accommodate up to 300 callers at once.
The benefits of this app are:
Generally licences for Zoom are distributed through two central points : //cesnet.zoom.us and https://cuni-cz.zoom.us/. CESNET licences are valid until the end of April 2021 and CU licences are valid until the 3.9.2021.
Licences for new users are distributed at the domain … at this moment. If you are interested in a licence, register on the web page by signing up with your faculty e-mail address (email@example.com), and then ask for a licence by filling out this form.
CESNET licences are all fully distributed. Users that have requested one through a form at the end of September or beginning of October 2020, but have not yet received one, will soon be informed of the next steps, and will be redirected to the https://cuni-cz.zoom.us/ domain.
If you did not ask for a CESNET Licence and you have a CU licence, you can still use this licence and it will be automatically extended to 3.9.2020.Other useful information can be found on the web page of ZOOM support.
At this time, thanks to the Centre for E-learning support, we have enough licences for all our teachers and there is no need to place a limit, if your own licence will be more comfortable for you. In some departments, a shared licence has proved useful, however. In this case, one needs to consider the fact that one user account can organise only one meeting at a given time.
The licences are not tied to a name and it is possible for them to be given and taken operatively. There are enough licences at this time so there is no need to budget them. If you stop using a licence, however, we would appreciate it if you let us know. We can then transfer it to someone else.
Of course, with pleasure. We are available by mail, or online calls by Zoom or telephone. There is also a group of students who are studying and have experience with the course Student pedagogy and Publishing skills. In case you need assistance, write us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will connect you with a member of our e-learning team, who will help you.
For online communication we recommend a head set or a camera with a microphone (more freedom of movement, the microphone is sensitive enough that it is possible for more people to speak at once. A head set is more appropriate if you are in a noisy space. A table top microphone is better for studio recordings, for example presentation commentaries.
